Deewa Service Shines Light on Pakistan Women’s Issues

VOA Deewa’s reporting on women’s issues inspires and influences those living in the troubled FATA region of Pakistan.  Radio listener Heela Khwast told VOA Deewa during a live call-in show on International Women’s Day: “I can now read, write, and dial the phone number.”  She said Deewa’s programs on women motivated her to start her education as an adult. They also inspired her younger brother to give her a pen, a book, and a notebook to use as tokens of support.  Nobel Peace laureate Malala Yousafzai’s mother and father also chose VOA Deewa to send out their messages on International Women’s Day.
